Terms of Service

By creating an account or using LifeChapter ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. If you do not agree, do not use the Service.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials and for all activity that occurs under your account. You must be at least 13 years old to use LifeChapter.

You agree to provide accurate information and keep it updated. We may suspend accounts that violate these terms.

You retain full ownership of everything you create in LifeChapter — your journal entries, photos, timeline events, family profiles, and all other content ("Your Content").

By using the Service, you grant LifeChapter a limited license to store, display, and process Your Content solely to provide the Service to you. We do not claim any ownership over Your Content and will never sell it.

You agree not to:

• Upload content that is illegal, harmful, abusive, or infringes on the rights of others
• Use the Service to harass, threaten, or harm others
• Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the Service
• Use the Service for commercial purposes without our written consent
• Reverse engineer or attempt to extract the source code of the Service

LifeChapter offers a 30-day free trial with full access. No credit card is required during the trial.

After the trial, continued access requires a paid subscription (Personal at $7/month or Family at $14/month). Subscriptions renew automatically until cancelled.

The Memoir feature is available as a one-time add-on purchase for any account.

You may cancel your subscription at any time from Settings. You will retain access until the end of your billing period. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis — contact support@lifechapter.io.

Our collection and use of your personal information is governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms.

We aim for high availability but do not guarantee uninterrupted access. We may perform maintenance, updates, or make changes to the Service at any time. We will try to give advance notice for significant changes.

You may delete your account at any time from Settings. We may terminate or suspend your account if you violate these Terms.

Upon termination, your content will be permanently deleted within 30 days. You may export your data before deletion from Settings → Export.

The Service is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We do not warrant that the Service will be error-free or uninterrupted.

To the maximum extent permitted by law, LifeChapter shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Service. Our total liability to you shall not exceed the amount you paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by email. Continued use of the Service after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the new Terms.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of the applicable jurisdiction.
